As you follow this self-guided walk, see the iconic landmarks of the City including The Ferry Building, Vaillancourt Fountain, North Beach, Chinatown, Nob Hill, cable cars, Coit Tower, Fisherman’s Wharf, Alcatraz, Pier 39, Hyde Street Pier, The Cannery, Ghirardelli Square, Fort Mason Grounds, Palace of Fine Arts, Golden Gate Promenade, East Beach, Presidio National Park which encompasses the S. F. National Cemetery, Historic Presidio Golf Course, and a portion of the Bay Area Ridge Trail.
You’ll see and, if you like, walk across the Golden Gate Bridge. Tour Fort Point and the batteries along the Pacific Coast shore. Walk the California Coastal Trail (CCT) and the Batteries to Bluffs Trail. See the rugged coast and beaches of San Francisco, the Cliff House, Sutro Bath ruins, and the Palace of Legion of Honor (Art Gallery). Walk through Golden Gate Park and visit the picturesque North Windmill, the Botanical Garden, Japanese Tea Garden, and Academy of Science and its planetarium and aquariums. Visit DeYoung Museum, the Conservatory of Flowers, Haight-Ashbury just east of the Park, Buena-Vista Park forested hiking trails, and Mount Sutro forested hiking trails. Check out the Sixteenth Avenue Tiled Steps and the San Francisco zoo.
Walk through Pine Lake Park, Stern Grove amphitheater, Twin Peaks, and the Castro and Mission Districts. Walk through the Civic Center, Union Square, SOMA (South of Market Street), and see the AT&T Ballpark, home to the San Francisco Giants. From there continue the walk, walking under the Bay Bridge, and arrive at the Ferry Building to end the walk. WHEW! If that’s not enough—be assured I did leave some out!
